How to find your MAC address for the technicians

If the Technology Centre technicians need a MAC address to add your iPhone, iPad, or computer to the network here is how to find the MAC address:

For iPad and iPhone

For a Mac computer

  • Open System Preferences
  • Click “Network”
  • Select the interface from the list (E.g. “Ethernet” which is wired or “AirPort” which is wireless)
  • Click “Advanced”
  • Look through the tabs; one will contain the mac address. (It will look something like this 00:11:22:aa:bb:cc)

For a PC computer

  • Type “cmd” without the quotation marks into the search field in the start menu and open cmd.exe
  • Type “getmac /v” without the quotation marks; that is a space after the letter c
  • There may be more than one result. Ignore bluetooth if it shows up. You want Wi-Fi. (It will look something like this 80-19-34-08-A0-24)
