welcome
On behalf of the West Abbotsford Community School Society, I would first like to welcome every father, mother, son, daughter, and grandparent in our community back for another school year. It’s an exciting thing when those school doors open in September, because it means the promise of new friendships, partnerships, and accomplishments. We hope to have a safe, fun, and fruitful year, and we hope that you and your family can be a part of it.

As usual, WACSS offers a wide variety of community programs for everyone to get involved with. We have kept some old favorites, added a few new ones, and are continually developing others. Every program we offer is in this brochure, so please feel free to have a look around.

When can you register? Well, If you are holding a brochure, you can register for everything inside of it right away. We’ve done away with registration day. Let me say that again:

Registration for programs is on now! We are excited that many are filling up fast.

The 2nd Annual West Abbotsford Walk/Run for Success was held on Sunday March 4th at Rotary Stadium. We had a great turnout on a very cold morning and are excited for next year and continuing to grow this event and awareness to West Abbotsford Community School. It would not have been possible without the huge support of Peninsula Runners Abbotsford as well as our other sponsors: Canadian Tire, City of Abbotsford, Country 107.1, Star 98.3, Brooks, Vancity, Coast Capital, Sonic Nation, Whatcom Rd White Spot, Old Spaghetti Factory, Thrifty Foods and more! We were able to give away TONS of prizes to winners and in draw prizes thanks to their generosity.

Summer Slam was a big hit this year with a total of 161 registrations over the 6 weeks! Fun field trips included the Vancouver Aquarium, Science World, and Wild Play Maple Ridge!

Thanks to the City of Abbotsford's Neighbourhood Matching Fund (NMF) Grant, we're excited to be hosting a FREE, Welcome Back BBQ at Ten-Broeck Elementary on Thursday September 20th! This will be a great community event to celebrate the start of the school year and build connections to the surrounding area. Everyone is welcome and volunteers are wanted! Email christy_ovens@sd34.bc.ca for more info!

How do you register? If you would like to register, you can do so in a number of ways. First, you can turn in a registration form and payment to the WACSS community office at John Maclure Community School. If your program does not require payment, however, you can fax your registration form to us, or you can e-mail it to info@westabby.org using the online PDF at www.westabby.org. In order to do so, you must "SAVE AS" and then you will be able to input the information. We are also pleased to now offer Pay Pal payment options for online banking or credit cards!! However, FIRST you must submit a registration form to us in order to ensure the program has room available prior to payment! Please do not leave payment at other schools. If these methods of registration work for you, then give us a call at 604-859-6919 and we can try to work something else out. Remember, space for programs is limited and is done on a first come/first serve basis. Please sign up at your earliest convenience, as programs with low registration may be cancelled. Don’t delay; sign up today!

Sincerely,
