WACSS offers a wide variety of programs, and we take a great deal of pride in all of them. Below is a list of some of our most popular. Maybe you’ve heard of them?

Preteen Xtreme

Preteen is a free, drop-in program for kids in grades 4-8. It runs from 6pm to 8pm on Mondays and Tuesdays. We play gym games (like dodgeball, basketball, tag, or zombie island), go on free field trips (like swimming and bowling) and have special events planned by your Preteen council members, you, and your friends. Check the schedule for the next Preteen event and come out for the time of your life! If you would like more information about this program, contact Casey Ambrose, the Preteen Director, at 604-859- 6919. This winter and spring you can catch Preteen on Monday evenings at John Maclure Community School (January 14 - May 27) and Tuesdays (January 15 - May 20) at Chief Dan George Middle! Check our Facebook group for any notices of cancellations or changes!

Little Rascals

If you want to get your child on the fast track to being an early reader, come join the Little Rascals staff for a time of stories, crafts, and recreation! Parents will receive tips on how to get their children reading around the house and get to hang out with other parents. The program will end with a half-hour of open gym time, allowing the tots to work out all that energy they always seem to have! Literacy and recreation: a great pair. Note: this is a FREE family literacy program and a parent must attend with children; siblings are welcome! Funding is provided by Success by Six. As a result, this program is FREE.

Reading Rascals

If you want your child to be a reading rascal, come join the Reading Rascals staff for a time of stories, crafts, and fun! Parents will receive tips on how to get their children reading around the house, get to hang out with other parents, and receive a free book to add to their family’s personal library each week. Note: this is a family literacy program and a parent must attend with children; siblings are welcome! Funding is provided by B.C. Gaming.
